Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. - Jeremiah 29:12-13

God is always pursuing us, but it’s often easy to get lost in our busy schedules and miss Him. Jesus himself often withdrew from the bustling crowds to spend time with God. Retreat is a weekend for anyone to intentionally seek God. God desires a relationship with us, and retreat provides the space for us to grow deeper in that relationship through sermons, small groups, worship, prayer, and fellowship.

Midtown retreat was a great opportunity for me to focus myself on God and to immerse myself in a community that was intentionally seeking Him out! It's a great time to be devoted to Him without the noise or distractions of our college lifestyles.

Eric Yan, 3rd year

Midtown retreat for me is always a blessing. it’s a good refresher and reminder during the school year that I’m not running this race alone! I’m always caught up in school, friends, or work and retreat really allows me to encounter God IN COMMUNITY. It’s really a bigger display of God’s church and His people and it’s such a privilege to be able to witness that.

Victoria Lu, 5th year

Everyone from Midtown comes together to worship God together for 3 days and learn more about His character. For every retreat God always reveals something about Himself to me depending on where I am and what I was struggling with each time.

Joseph Lee, 3rd year

Barry Kang

Speaker: Barry Kang
Symphony Church (Boston, MA)

Before receiving his calling into ministry, Barry worked for a boutique investment management company in downtown Los Angeles. Educated in Hong Kong (elementary through high-school) and then at Stanford University, Barry thought his life was going to be about making lots of money, but God had other ideas. In 2003, God called Barry to minister to college students, and he has been loving college students ever since. Barry was the college pastor at the Church of Southland in Los Angeles (an AMI™ church) for five years, during which time he also received his M.Div from Fuller Seminary. In 2008, God moved Barry and his family to Philadelphia to minister at Grace Covenant Church as a preparatory step to moving to Boston. In June 2010, Barry, his wife Sunny, and two boys (Caleb and Micah), and six team members moved to Boston to plant Symphony Church.

Barry lives in Arlington, MA, where he coaches boys soccer and enjoys watching his sons play baseball, soccer and hockey.

Q: Will transportation be provided?
A: Yes! When registering, please indicate whether you have a car or need a ride. Then, you will receive an email closer to retreat with details of your driver and pickup location.

Q: What if I cannot attend one of the days?
A: We would still love for you to join us! Please indicate your availability on the registration form, or reach out to us (below) or your Family Group leader so we can coordinate for you.

Q: What if I have dietary restrictions?
A: Please let us know, and we will coordinate with the retreat center to provide options for you!

Q: I can no longer attend. Can I receive a refund?

However, people who have not signed up yet can “purchase” your spot from you by paying you directly. Please contact us (below) or your Family Group leader to let us know how to update the registration!.

Q: What should I bring? Does the facility have linens, toiletries, etc.?
A: You will receive an email with a detailed packing list closer to the date of the retreat! However, the facility does not provide linens or toiletries. Please bring your own towel, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, pillow, and sleeping bag (or bedsheets and blanket).
